A document issued by International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and International Laboratory Accreditation Co-operation (ILAC) defines the areas of accreditation to enable the conformity assessment community to clearly distinguish between activities to be carried out by accreditation bodies – and therefore not be carried out by conformity assessment bodies – and other bodies.The following standards/normative documents are currently used within Accreditation:
ISO/IEC Guide 65 - General requirements for bodies operating product certification systems (ISO/IEC 17065 in future).
ISO/IEC 17020 - General criteria for the operation of various types of bodies performing inspection.
ISO/IEC 17021 - Conformity assessment - Requirements for bodies providing audit and certification of management systems.
ISO/IEC 17024 - Conformity assessment - General requirements for bodies operating certification of persons.
ISO/IEC 17025 - General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories.
ISO 15189 - Medical laboratories- particular requirements for quality and competence.
ISO/IEC17043 - Conformity assessment General requirements for proficiency testing (in combination with ISO/IEC 17025).
ISO Guide 34 - General requirements for competence of reference materials producers, (in combination with ISO/IEC 17025).
ISO 15195 - Laboratory medicine - Requirements for reference measurement laboratories (in combination with ISO/IEC 17025).
